Anti-Fatigue Matting- A Must Have for Standing Workers

1. Miserable Employees Reduce your Bottom Line

Employees who feel supported by their organization give optimal effort to increase the success of their team. Empowered team members often have a higher view of the company, higher productivity rates, and miss fewer days overall.

Employees who feel unappreciated, are in physical pain, or feel overall miserable at work tend to find a way to ‘get their own’ from a company that does not support their team. This comes in the form of increased absenteeism, lower productivity, and a miserable work attitude that can spread to others in the workplace. These circumstances often lead to turnover, one of the most damaging variable costs to businesses.

2. Employees Suffer Without an Anti-Fatigue Mat

When companies do not use anti-fatigue mats, it is obvious to their teams that ergonomics and safety are not a priority. Forcing workers to perform on concrete, day after day, has been associated with increased injury, musculoskeletal disorders, absenteeism, and decrease in morale and company loyalty. Providing essential workers with an ergonomic anti-fatigue mat shows them the company not only cares about their short-term productivity, but about their long-term health as well.

3. There are Studies that prove Anti-Fatigue mats work

University Study: The University of Loughborough performed research to compare leg muscle activity as participants stood on concrete, then equivalently, an anti-fatigue floor mat.

Results: While workers stood on anti-fatigue mats, they move their legs and lower body muscles over 50% more than while standing on concrete. At the same time, these participants reported noticeably less fatigue from the ergonomic mats. How is this possible? The answer is “Muscle Pump Theory.”

Key Finding: Workers standing on concrete had significantly higher skin temperatures than those standing on mats. This skin temperature increase was medically attributed to pooling blood in the legs. When workers try to get comfortable on concrete, they measurably move their legs 50% less than those standing on a mat. The lack of movement causes pooling blood, and much of the increase in fatigue is attributed to that.

More Movement= Lower Fatigue: More movement in the legs (an automatic and subconscious effect of using a mat,) allows your muscles to stay in optimal condition and keeps blood pumping through the body. As the body and muscles allow blood to flow more efficiently through the body, team members experience less fatigue.

4. Why is Diamond-Plate Matting the most popular mat in the world?

It is no coincidence that anti-fatigue Diamond-Plate Mats and diamond plate flooring are favored by teams and manufacturers around the world. This includes uses for industrial matting, commercial matting, and anti-fatigue matting. Some Diamond-Plate mats have even been measured to reduce the impact on workers’ joints by over 50%, leading to an increase in energy and morale--- with an associated decrease in injury and absenteeism.

5. Why Wearwell Diamond-Plate?

Wearwell pioneered the Original Diamond-Plate mat in 1989, and over the decades, have listened to our customers for continued feedback. People with operations that needed maximum surface traction, slide resistance, protection from high voltage or static shock. The list goes on.

After listening for the past 32 years, we now offer the widest variety of diamond plate matting (also known as diamond matting or diamond mats). Each with is own unique purpose to fit the needs of our unique clientele.
